About the college

Ayurveda in the heart of the Western Ghats, since 1998

The only medical college in Uttara Kannada district, run by Shikshana Prasaraka Samiti, Siddapur.

Our profile

Ancient wisdom, modern medical science

Dhanvantari Ayurveda College, Hospital and Research Centre, Siddapur, was established in 1998 to teach the science of Ayurveda and to meet the healthcare needs of the people. As the only medical college in Uttara Kannada district, it takes a systematic approach that combines the ancient principles of Ayurveda with modern medical science.

The college is set in the green Sahyadri hills of the Western Ghats, a home of traditional Ayurvedic practice, which gives scholars an excellent platform for research in this stream of medicine.

What began with a batch of three students is now a full-fledged Ayurveda institute educating 100 students in every batch, with post-graduation in Panchakarma and Kayachikitsa. Students excel with meritorious marks, and are encouraged to take part in sports and cultural activities for physical and mental well-being.

The large campus includes the hospital, a research laboratory, hostels, a canteen, an auditorium, a herbal garden and a playground. Classrooms are spacious, well ventilated and equipped with audio-visual aids. There is a library with a large collection of books and journals, a digital library with internet access, a herbal garden with many species including endangered ones, a museum and departmental library for every department, and a well-equipped dissection theatre.
